Marijuana Myths Marijuana Facts

This is a review of Marijuana Myths Marijuana Facts by Lynn Zimmer and John P. Morgan.
This book is for anyone who smokes marijuana or who has an influence on legislation pertaining to marijuana. It is based on an extensive review of the medical literature and reveals after years of scientific tests the real results of marijuana.
In the mid-20th century, researchers such as Masters and Johnson made severe claims about the effects of marijuana on people. Claims were made that marijuana alters brain waves, testosterone levels, motivation, physiology, and so on. But the authors of this book have reviewed decades of research on this subject and reveal that marijuana use is much less harmful than previously thought.
While the authors do not say smoking marijuana is harmless, they do assert there is no conclusive evidence showing that marijuana use alters electrical brainwave patterns or lowers testosterone levels. In fact, moderate use of marijuana has little effect on the biochemistry of the body, and that effect disappears when the person stops using marijuana. This book makes a compelling case that marijuana is not a dangerous substance and therefore should be legal.

Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand

This is a review of “Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand” by Leonard Peikoff.
This book is perhaps the most important book ever written in the second millennium, perhaps of all time. Why? Because in it Dr. Peikoff explicates a rational philosophy for living as a human being, now, on this earth, with no higher purpose than experiencing happiness. That philosophy is Objectivism, which was discovered by Ayn Rand.
Most people avoid philosophical texts because of the circumlocutions, equivocations and long-winded sentences that make reading them more painful than cutting one's wrist. That is not the case with this philosophical text. Dr. Peikoff reveals the five branches of Objectivist philosophy with unusual clarity and thoughtfulness so you can understand the material in the first reading.
Topics covered are metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, politics, aesthetics, and history. This book not only can change your life; it can change the world. If success and rationality are your ideals, then read this book.

Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology

This is a review of “Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology” by Ayn Rand.
Every once in a while someone comes along and produces an extraordinary intellectual achievement. Aristotle did with his Organon where he explicated the rules of deductive logic. Bacon did with his New Organon where he explicated the rules of the scientific method. Now Ayn Rand has produced this work that explicates the operations of a conceptual consciousness.
In this supremely clear book, Ayn Rand reveals the nature of sense perception, concept formation, reason, objectivity, and related issues. It is a treasure chest of epistemological material that will clarify your thinking and arm you with the power of reason. It is recommended to anyone who wants to know how to think clearly and objectively.

Novum Organum

This is a review of “Novum Organum” by Francis Bacon.
Novum Organum is Latin for “new organ”, which means a new instrument or method of investigation to identify reality. Francis Bacon, a 17th century English philosopher and statesman, rejected the approach of relying on authority or dogma as a means to truth. Instead, he proposed a method of investigation by scientific observation. Thus, he gave birth to the scientific method, and his approach is revealed in Novum Organum.
This book is recommended for scientists and philosophers. It is also recommended for laypeople that are interested in an objective inquiry into nature and nature’s laws. This book illuminates Bacon’s approach to scientific inquiry that made possible the age of science, the industrial revolution, and the modern world.

For a New Liberty

This is a review of “For a New Liberty” by Murray Rothbard.
Murray Rothbard is to freedom as Karl Marx is to enslavement. In the 19th century Karl Marx, an economist and political philosopher, wrote the Communist Manifesto. That work became the political basis for mass oppression in communist countries including Soviet Russia and Red China. In the 20th century Murray Rothbard, an economist and political philosopher, wrote the Libertarian Manifesto. That work will become the political basis for mass freedom in democratic countries including America and England.
This book is a skillful exposition of the political philosophy of libertarianism. Rothbard covers history, the state, the economy, politics, and specific issues such as road ownership in a free society. It is a great introduction to libertarianism and the thoughts of Murray Rothbard. It is highly recommended for thinking men and women everywhere.

Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal

This is a review of “Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal” by Ayn Rand.
This book is a compilation of essays written by Ayn Rand and her associates in the mid-20th century. It contains a succinct description of what capitalism is, how it functions, and why it is the only moral political-economic system.
The fact that capitalism is the only social system that prohibits the use of force makes it compelling. But as revealed throughout the essays in this book, capitalism is the most effective in generating wealth for both individuals and society. This book makes a compelling case for capitalism and is recommended for anyone who is interested in politics, economics, and government.

The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

This is a review of “The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind” by Julian Jaynes.
Julian Jaynes is to cognitive evolution as Charles Darwin is to biological evolution. Charles Darwin provided a coherent explanation of how life evolved from prior life forms. He explained how we got to where we are in terms of our physiology. Dr. Julian Jaynes, in this book, provides a coherent explanation of how consciousness evolved and why man is the only creature to have developed an abstract/introspective consciousness.
While this book was published in the 1970s, it still is repressed throughout the world because it implicitly smashes major paradigms of human life. For example, it convincingly explains that god and religion were used as a tool of transition from prehistoric man to modern man. This implies that god and religion are no longer necessary.
This book is an intellectual journey covering archeology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and religion. It reveals a brilliant thesis that will have as great an impact on civilization as did Darwin’s work. Read it to find out why.
